This past weekend I had the opportunity to partake on a wonderful experience that involved among other things, the magic and wonder of nature.  Along with a group of local healers and other business people we submerged on an inspiring journey of discovery of a wonderful community in Italy called Damanhur.  One of Damanhur’s objectives is to help our planet.  They have so many fascinating projects and abilities, that one can spend days just discussing the basics.

However, among their many projects I was truly impacted by one in particular, the music of the plants.  I was blown away when I found out that plants can actually sing!  What?! Yes, they do!  However, they have to be willing to sing and collaborate with you.  I discover that some outdoor trees for example, are so guarded of humans because of their negative experience with them, that they are not willing to sing for them.  It can take some time to build trust and establish meaningful contact with these trees before they agree to sing for you.

When I encountered this plant musician, a yucca tree in my case, I was able to step back and connect with nature in a way I’ve never done before. The realization that plants and trees can actually interact through music is truly magical and triggers a new level of awareness and awe of how nature works.  I discovered that plants can ‘scan’ the human field and play what is appropriate for that individual.  If you come with a certain complaint or ailment the plant is introduced to you and you are able to connect on a deeper level.

Once the connection is made, then you can sit back or lie down and let the plant play the appropriate musical tone for the healing response you need to take place.  Before you know it, there’s a beautiful sense of relaxation that takes place and all worries begins to banish.  The plant is connected to you, and playing exactly what your body needs at that time.  For the duration of the treatment all that you are aware is the beautiful music that’s been playing and a new sense of awareness that’s taking place within your psyche. The playing can occur with any plant that’s willing to cooperate with you or with your therapist/plant communicator.   It’s truly wonderful to see that all plants have this ability and universal healing propensity.

It has been shown through science that “being around plants and trees, both indoors and outdoors, significantly improves our physical, mental and emotional well-being. Doctors and holistic health practitioners alike are actively researching the effects of the Music of the Plants in numerous settings—including home, hospitals and the workplace—to better understand how plant music shortens recovery time and aids in overall healing.

Contact with plant intelligence provides deeper insight into ourselves and the world around us. Studies show that plants in homes and workplaces help reduce stress, increase productivity, enhance employee attitudes; lower operating costs and improves air quality. A personal connection to nature inspires us to create a world where the environment doesn’t need protecting because it is an integral part of who and what we are.  Music of the Plants is essentially an instrument that gives sound to plant perception, allowing you to have your own interactive experiences with nature.” (1)

I was so moved by this experience that I wanted to bring this healing modality to my patients at my office.  Thus starting this week, Minsu Healing Oasis will have this modality available for all those patients that would like to experience the healing wonders of music of the plants.
